Notable Features: there are scars all over his body, mostly from Orin, but also from a former lover. Most notable are the ones under his left eye (from an attempt to gouge it out), a Y-incision on his abdomen (attempted live autopsy), a slit in his throat (murder attempt), a long scar between his ribs on his right side, and the bite marks on the back of his neck. He has a facial tattoo in teal ink that is super complex and I hate drawing it!!!! It depends on the timeline, but he has a lot of facial and body piercings because he's a huge masochist.

Background:

Roiben was born, as most drow children were, in the Underdark. His family there was mostly made up of a clan of women (clan Sundastar). He had a well-adjusted and even privileged life until puberty hit, when he came out to his mother and sisters as transgender. They abused him for several years before casting him out entirely from the clan. Following that, he made his way to the surface and into hiding. As not only a drow, but a "gender-traitor," his own kind avoided him, so he sought out the company of surface-dwellers to fill in the void his family left. Despite being young, penniless and faced with hostility in most circumstances, he found a powerful warlock to pen a deal on his behalf; eventually coming to reside in the body he wanted by magical means.

Nobody knows this besides two of his prior lovers, and only when they had completely gained his trust. All it cost him - to his knowledge - was the end of his family line, and a fat satchel of gold. His clan was wiped from the face of the earth, and luckily, there was no love lost. Nobody has gotten close to him in recent memory, as he shies away from physical touch, as well as relationships altogether. If you asked him, he would say he doesn't experience feelings of love, and hasn't since he came to the surface. Despite that, he fell into a partnership of sorts with one pale elf, whom he aided in the Rite of Profane Ascension. As a reward, Roiben was changed into a vampire bride - though he isn't aware of the full extent of his abilities.

Roiben is a skilled, brutal fighter and strategist; and has a way with weapons that is, at times, unparalleled. Some people who have fought at his side say there is a latent magic energy underlying each of his attacks. Something within that has yet to be fully unleashed, and would be potentially cataclysmic if unrestrained. If you asked the local bards, Roiben is the embodiment of Wrath.

In Edhast, his only notable achievement was making contact with a mysterious and isolated tiefling, Mordren, who claimed great power and hidden knowledge. However, Roiben soon left the land for greater prospects.

Roiben is the first reincarnation of the soul of Feste. As such, he retains some memories of theirs, and gained the ability to recall some of his murkier memories from Faerun with the aid of Lhosdir.

He was an interloper that took advantage of the Astral Plane to move between Faerun and Edhast. Boji the lich queen saw this as a strength as opposed to a threat, and saw promise in the way that Roiben took orders. As such, she made him the general of her hordes of drow armies. He willfilly participated in Boji's defeat at the request of his only friend, Dagaz. It was an act of revenge. Once her demise was certain, he was sent back to Faerun from Edhast by Lhosdir.

In Faerun, several decades have passed in comparison to Edhast - especially after the defeat of Boji's avatar and the eradication of her time magic. Roiben is roughly, by Edhast standards at least, 91 years old.

  • He actually was born in 1913 in Perth, and "died" in 1988 when he was changed into a vampire by an undisclosed third party. He's an elfin, so age doesn't really have a bearing on his appearance. Don't worry about it too much. He celebrates (if you can call it that) his date of death as his new birthday.
  • Went to LaSalle Academy in Oakdale, NY.
  • Major (ret.) in the US Army and WWII veteran. Knows Merynn's grandma (Edith); who was an aircraft machinist. Meeting her as Merynn's "boyfriend" is only a little awkward.
  • Used to be in a religious cult.
  • Has a hafada piercing.
  • OG Trans man. Transitioned a million years ago. Administers Merynn's testosterone shots because they're too chickenshit to do it alone (he's nice about it).
